The ceremony of signing documents based on the agreement between SOCAR’s Caspian Drilling Company Limited LLC and Keppel Offshore and Marine LTD to build a new sixth generation semi-submersible drilling rig has been held at the exhibition of “XX International Caspian oil and gas, oil processing and petrochemicals”. Keppel’s subsidiary, “Caspian Rigbuilders PTE. LTD”, will carry out the design and engineering of the rig while Caspian Shipyard Company LLC will undertake the construction of it.

Capable of operating in depth of 1,000m of water, the rig is built to drill up to 12192m.

It has been outfitted to include an 800m self-contained eight point mooring system and will be provided with all preventive equipment against the possibility of contamination of the environment in Caspian Sea.

Construction of rig is expected to be completed within 41 months and scheduled for delivery in Q4 2016.
